Back in early April on the day after my egg retrieval, my husband and I planted the first seeds of the season in our little veggie garden. After a poor crop last season, we decided to put a better effort in this year so we replenished the soil with organic matter, and made sure to be on top of the regular watering. Plants can't grow in poor soil, or without adequate water or light. Similar to my 2010 IVF attempt where the uterine lining was irregular, and then with surgical correction and the right hormone balance it was able to grow back much healthier for the 2011 cycles.
We're now enjoying those baby salad greens, topped with radishes and peas. It's symbolic in a way that the seeds were germinating as our embryo divided into 2 cells, 4 cells, 8 cells and then implanted as the seedlings were putting their roots down. The next 3 months were spent dividing and growing in size just like the baby. Now those seeds have become the food that is nourishing our growing little one. In a few more weeks we'll have enough of a supply that we won't be buying produce from the grocery store at all. Ah... summer.
Nice garden! My veggies are just sprouts, but soon I will be enjoying the same thing. :P

On the coast we can start planting quite early, but things take longer to grow in the cool wet springs we typically have (especially this year).

Wow, that's quite the garden! How did you do that when it was snowing just two months ago?! Are you sure we live in the same province?

I'm totally jealous! the nights are really cool here, so alot of our stuff have either stunted or croaked! we have 8 jalepeno plants still growing, 3 zuchini, and a canteloupe plant. The only one giving us anything to eat is the Strawberry plant, small, deformed sour berries!

Snowing? No snow on the Island since March, and the last frost was early April. The early stuff that I planted can withstand cool weather. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers didn't go in until a couple of weeks ago.

beautiful veg garden - looks delicious too! I'm just starting out with the whole vegetable garden thing and so decided to start with tomatoes and cayenne peppers, both of which seem to be coming along.
