Get Your Head Around This One
We had a bit of a scare this week. Anika saw the GP on Monday who thought her fontanelle was closed too early. When
her head measurement didn't increase from last month to this month, he was worried
that her brain would not have room to expand inside her skull. He called the pediatrician who got her in on an urgent basis on Thursday. The
pediatrician is less worried. He measured her head circumference 0.5 cm larger than the GP. He's just going to follow the growth
again in 6 weeks. If there's no growth he'll order a CT scan to investigate further. Worst case scenario, surgery is required to open the skull, but he said 90% of the time this is not the case, so that's less worrying. Never a dull moment...

I hope that everything will be fine and Anika won't need the surgery. I can imagine how stressful this is for you.

ReplyDeleteI think its pretty common. My nephew had it and Livy had it...both grew appropriately and were never the wiser. Hope its nothing more than just a little more attention for Anika.
