-I purchased some new toys and pulled toys out of storage that she's never seen, novelty is good for extending her self entertaining time just a little.
-the playpen can be very useful for going to the bathroom or having a quick shower.
-quick to throw together food makes amazingly
-I've started wiping the highchair tray down while she is still sitting in it. This way I don't have to find time to come back to it later, sometime before the next meal.
-the house hasn't seen a vacuum since DH left over a week ago. Impossible to do while she's awake and equally as tricky when she's sleeping.
-evenings are the loneliest, baby is in bed and I'm home on my own.
-I am actually caught up on sewing projects, reading, and e-mails.
-my new bedtime is 8:30 pm (might as well make up for those months of lost sleep)
One week down and two more to go...

I agree, kudos to those mom's who do it all the time with no 'sharing' end in sight.
ReplyDeleteOur nanny has taught our girls to be heavy sleepers. She vacuums their room, folds their clothes and cleans their rooms with the lights on while they are sleeping. She's trained them well. If only I can get the younger one to keep up the habit at 6 am when Dwayne and I try to sneak out for work in the morning our lives would be golden.
I have no tips for you to make it easier (Dwayne and I have had to travel a fair bit for work and usually its simply 'survival mode' for us). Hope the days/weeks go quickly.
I hear you! Back in April/May, my husband was away for 6 weeks straight. And while he was home for a few hours or a day, we live an hour from the airport so there was no point in him coming home. Luckily my parents are only 20 minutes from the airport so FrostedBaby and I would go there to meet up with him and visit. The really annoying part was that that meant that I was spending a couple days a week traveling back and forth, which meant I couldn't make plans with friends for playdates and we had enough trouble getting out because of napping and trying to keep something resembling a routine in between all the craziness. It was really rough some days. I do wonder though if husband got the worse end because I at least was home. FrostedBaby learned to roll over and started creeping around, learned a bunch of different other motor skills (head banging in the high chair, etc), dropped a nap, and progressed a lot with what he was eating in that time.
ReplyDeleteOh I hear ya SD...A worked 49 consecutive 12 hour night shifts in a row in June/July. It was soooooo hard. Hang in there!!
