Tea Leaf Predictions

So, in my grandmother's honour my mom, sister, Anika and I decided to go and have our tea leaves read. We used to go all together every couple of years and giggle over the predictions while we enjoyed a cup of tea or two and a leisurely lunch.

None of us are really that "out there", and usually take it all in with a healthy dose of skepticism, but to her credit this woman has made some fairly accurate predictions in the past. In 2003 she saw the man who would become my husband. She kept saying there was a man in my life but he hadn't made himself known to me yet (we had been introduced once socially but were not yet dating). Four years later she predicted a marriage proposal was coming and low and behold a few weeks later, it did. The last time we went in 2010, the tea leaf reader predicted I would have two children very close together. Not twins, but everyone would mistake them for twins. 

My reading today was similarly detailed. She knew right away that I was pregnant. She predicts I'm carrying a very healthy baby boy. The pregnancy will be very easy and everything will go well. The baby will arrive right on time and labour will be very fast (only about 2 hours). I'm to get to the hospital at the first pain. The baby will be a little larger than my first (8lbs 2 oz). She said I would be soon returning to work but only briefly and just to get the benefits. She sees me working up to 7 days prior to the delivery and bouncing back quickly. When I return to work the next time it will be part time because I want to spend time with my kids.

She talked a little bit about Anika. She said she calls me from her bed, and is a very easy-going child who can amuse herself and who we can take anywhere. She said the little one would be similarly good-natured but will be a bit stubborn being a Taurus. Their relationship will be very close, as if they have a contract right from the beginning. Anika will be the boss and the second one would grow up to be the protector.

Now for the biggest surprise... she sees a 3rd child when the second one is about 4 years old. Hmmm... not so sure about that one.

So... tomorrow is the appointment with my OB where I will get my 19 week ultrasound results and hopefully find out the gender of this baby. I'm very curious now.
