Toddlers Tell All

I met up with a friend for a walk yesterday. We started TTC at around the same time. She now has a toddler. The little guy is such a reminder for me of the "what if" it had happened quickly for us? He’s so cute I just can’t resist him though, and my friend is so supportive. I think the kindest thing she’s said to me on this journey is that although she won’t ever truly understand what it is like to have IF, she knows what it is like to want a child and to want to be a mom. Anyway, the little one looked up at me, looked me straight in the eye, and called me “mama”. I brushed it off and commented to my friend that developmentally he is at the age where every woman to him is a mama. She said that actually he’s never done that before. He did it again a few minutes later as he handed me a freshly picked wildflower. She said “he must know that you are meant to be a mama soon”. How sweet . It’s hard to resist the urge to steel him and take him home with me. This little man has learned early on in life how to make a woman feel better -flowers!
