Originally the plan was to return to work full speed ahead yesterday, but it was looking like this plan was going to need some adjusting. I just had my first real meal Sunday night, was still relying on Tylenol every 3 hours and several naps to get through the day, and still felt too foggy to drive. Since my job involves a lot of lifting, bending, and driving, I knew work was not going to be a reality for at least a couple more days. My boss was great, and told me they'd take care of canceling my appointments and to take as much time as I needed (she knew I was having gynecological surgery, but not the reason why). The employer did require a Dr.'s note stating when I was fit to be back at work before coming back though.
Hmmm... the Gyn has essentially discharged me, and the RE doesn't want to see me for 8 weeks. I tried the GP's office and they offered me an appointment with my Dr. two and a half weeks away -not so helpful. I called my Gyn's office and feeling like a big wimp, described where I was at. The nurse was surprised that the Dr. had told me I'd be fully recovered by today. She agreed it was reasonable to take a couple more days off, and suggested returning to work part days Wed-Fri this week and back to full days next Monday. She wrote the letter up herself and said she'd have the Dr. sign it and leave it for me to pick up. She also booked me in to see the Gyn for one more follow up visit next week. Of course I didn't say no to that because I've got lots of questions about the surgery. This lady is on it!
So, the road to recovery is getting a lot less bumpy (unlike my bikini line which is starting to fill in with stubble). Yesterday I made some significant improvements. I'm proud to say that I ate three full meals, did a 30 minute walk, some light housework, had only had 2 short naps, and went 4 hours between doses of Tylenol before my insides reminded me that they are still a bit cranky. Today is going to be even better! Soon well be back on the TTC bus again -minus some baggage that was weighing us down.

Wishing you speedy recovery!!

Great update! Glad that the gyn's office was able to help you out with both a note for work and also a follow-up appt. Don't feel like a wimp - make sure you take the time you need to recovery fully.

Wow, you're soooo lucky that your doc has a great office assistant! My gyne wouldn't see me for 6 weeks. I will NEVER go back to her. BTW, you're not a wimp at all. It took me 10 days after lap and hysteroscopy before I felt anywhere close to normal. I went to work about 6 days afterwards, nearly passed out, and then nearly had a car accident on the way home ... so take your time! :Emoticons09710: Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ladies! Good to hear about the recovery time. Yes, I'm so glad I've had a couple more days at home and feel ready to ease back into work again tomorrow. Now, to prepare myself for all the questions about how I'm feeling & where I've been. :Emoticons09710:

I had a lap, hysterscopy, dye insufflation with endometrial cauterizations and was told to take at least a week off and then returned to work with a lifting restriction of 10lbs for a month. Make sure you are definitely ready to go back - you don't want anything to ruin all the gyne's hard work! :) Feel better soon. Sounds like you are on your way to a good recovery though!

Thank you for that reminder chelle! That's good to know you were advised not to lift too much -nothing was ever mentioned about this, but it makes good sense to me. The last thing I need is more adhesions from scar tissue. I'm planning to take it slow and easy until I see the surgeon again next week. Today I'm going in just for a couple of meetings, and will spend some time organizing my schedule so that the heavier/more unpredictable kiddies are booked for later next week.
