Status Updates

I have a love-hate relationship with Facebook. I haven’t really posted much on Facebook for a while. Maybe that is because I’ve hidden all my “friends” who are pregnant, or new mommies. That doesn’t leave many people. Facebook always feels like a big facade anyway. It’s like elementary school show and tell (aka bring and brag). Many of the people on there are from my school days, so maybe that’s why it feels that way. Instead of their new bright red fire truck they thought was the bees knees at age 8, they now show off about their wonderful baby making abilities. However people don’t need/ want to know about the status of my uterus and our struggles to try to compete in this department. I’ve officially run out of vague, meaningless things to put in a status update there. You can only talk about the weather so much.

On ivf.ca, people get it. I feel like I can post what I’m really thinking/feeling and it’s OK. I just have to make sure I don’t get mixed up with where I’m posting. Could you imagine some of the things we put on this site ending up accidentally in a FB status?!?!? :o

“off for my daily wanding with the RE”
“kudos to me, I just inserted my first progesterone tablet intravaginally”
“spotting again, I think AF is around the corner, argh”
“Hubbie’s sample today was 50 million post wash -nice work boys”

Feel free to add your own TMI status update.

  1. I'm not nearly as witty - but I will say that I do LOVE reading your BLOG and your status updates.
(and I have a passionate dislike for Facebook).

I have a love/hate relationship with FB too. And one time I very nearly DID post a status update in the wrong place cause I just wasn't thinking. Well, wouldn't that just stir up conversation amongst the FB crowd! Thankfully I realized what I was doing and pressed delete! Your blog made me laugh today!

    LOL -Thanks you guys.

Rule of thumb for FB is pretty much everything mentioning sickness, fatigue, or children is off limits because someone will interpret that as a pregnancy announcement on the way. That leaves weather and well, weather.

I hear you on that! I wrote "Debbie is tired alllll the time" once (while I was on stimms) and I had like 10 people say you must be preggers!
    UGH!
My status's here are commented with support and caring as I go through this crazy process.

That is the very reason I stay away from Facebook too.

  2. hi silverdollar! :) i joined so i could comment here! :)
you're totally right about not only editing because IF stuff is TMI, but also nothing about being tired, sick, or hungry! plus, nothing about getting enough sleep, enjoying the quiet, or being happy about something - because of the inevitable: "enjoy it now, just wait until you have kids!"
    UGH!
love your posts, dear buddy! :):)

How about "Had a ton of EWCM today! Looks like me and DH will be getting busy tonight!"

I agree with others on the comments and I too have felt EXACTLY how you feel. it's nice that we have this site for a soft place to fall where others' "get' what we're going through or have gone though:( I remember reading that one of my dad's friend's dd's had a baby and I found out on FB. I also remember how dh didn't understand why I was so upset:9 hello? ahh because we hadn't gotten pg yet. Just a few weeks ago I found out that one of my cousins is pg with twins!! and everyone thinks it's "a miracle" and one of my other cousins asked "was y our pg a normal one" I coudln't believe she said that. What did she mean "noamal' if I did if treatments, I said no but i lied becasue I didn't want it getting out about what we'd done in case it got back to my mum, so I too have had to be carful what I say and post on FB becasue of family meembers:( I'm so sorry aobut FB it's a love hat relationship in deed:( (hugs)

Ha! Yes, FB is a minefield. I find I only go on there when I'm feeling mentally and emotionally solid enough for it. If I'm on the edge, I must stay away!

LOL! Except nobody on FB would be able to decode the abbreviations. They'd think EWCM stood for some fancy flower bouquet and think your DH was a really sweet guy :)

Glad you guys can relate and laugh with me.

I have cancelled and re-activated my account twice in the 15 months we have been trying, and I'm not gonna lie I prob have about 20 friends that are NOT hidden (mainly men lol). Loud sigh.

How about this for a status: "leaving on plane to go get knocked up...no husband needed" I was thinking about how I'm going to fly back to Victoria for my FET and my dh isn't coming so we can save a plane fair.
