The Threesome

This IUI was night and day from the first one. No bad news in the stirrups this time, although sitting in the IUI room brought back all of those memories. Hubs played some music on his I-phone and rubbed my shoulders. I was so much more relaxed this time around. I've had to reframe our baby making sessions to now involve a somewhat less than romantic threesome of me, Hubs, and the Dr. -and it's OK.

There ended up being 3 official finishers of the egg race. A fourth follicle tried to pick up some speed in the last lap, but wasn't quite big enough to make it to the podium. That's quite OK with me. PUPO with triplets is quite enough thanks.

We were shown the vial of sperm, and asked to confirm that this was the guy I wanted today. I cheekily replied "yes, he'll do, thanks". The sperm survived the gravatron ride very well once again. The catheter was a bit pinchy going past my cervix, but tolerable. Dr. H put his hand on my belly afterward and talked to it, saying "now please let this woman get pregnant". He said as we left "I really hope I'll see you next in 5 weeks for an ultrasound, but if not we'll do another IUI with the same injectable protocol". Stay tuned, July 27th will be the official results of the pairs event where we'll see if any of the eggs meet a suitable sperm and decide to stick together.

For now, I'm relieved not to have drive to Victoria again or have another needle for 2 whole weeks. We've put in 1000 km's in the past 10 days going back and forth to the clinic.
