Getting Started

I’m itching to get started and get some dates firmed up in my schedule. According to my predictions Aunt Flo was due yesterday, and I’m rarely off by more than a day or so. But, it seemed Aunt Flo was running behind schedule. Maybe fog at the airport, or my nasty letters again?

I spent the day trying everything under the sun to get things started. My tactics included all the tried and true methods that have worked before: vigorous exercise, hot bath, going to the public swimming pool without bringing any menstrual products, wearing white shorts in public, sex, and even taking a home pregnancy test, but alas nothing worked. Then later in the evening, all of a sudden there was AF! Hallelujah!

It’s been a very long time since I’ve been excited to have my period come. So, this morning I called in my day 1 for my first IVF. Being a Sunday, I had to leave a message and I’m not sure if I’ll hear from anyone today, or if they’ll wait until tomorrow.

I was looking back at a calendar and it was a year ago today that my referral was received at the fertility clinic. Whew, it’s been quite a year. I never would have imagined we’d be here doing this now, but here we are. Step 1 -take birth control pills, here I come.
