My birth control pill script arrived in the mail yesterday. I went to have it and a couple of the other oral meds needed for my IVF cycle filled at the pharmacy. When I stopped back in to pick up the prescriptions, the pharmacist asked if the BCP’s were a new prescription. “Yes”, I plainly replied. Thinking to myself -33 years old and newly on birth control pills, I almost felt like a virgin again! He went over the directions with me for how to take the BCP's, and stressed that we must use protection when we have intercourse for the first 7 days of being on the pill or we'd risk a pregnancy.
LOL! That must be the secret to conception that we've been missing all these years! Jeez we've wasted all this time and money -who knew it was that simple!

And to think DH and I actually did wait 7 days back in those pre-IVF days! Ah, the irony ...

Me too! We actually used condoms (which seemed expensive!!!!) for several months after going off the pill. I read since then that you don't need to do that. My new standard response to that question at the pharmacy is "yes, I have had this medication before"... I find it saves the pharmacist from unpacking the prescription that 15 seconds ago was packed up by the cashier, only to scan the document that is inside the bag, and read it out to me. My bitchy inner voice is usually at a full scream at that point!! Last time I went in for my Prometrium and Estrace, the directions just said "Use as directed", and I said I knew exactly what that meant, thank you very much!!

Every time I got BCP (to prep for surgery and to prep for IVF) the pharmacist's assistant would say "your doctor didn't prescribe any refills" - all confused. I just responded "yes, that's fine". No need for me to elaborate, none of their business. Maybe they thought I was just giving sex a try?

Good call Rhubarb. I guess I'm just too honest. I did appreciate hearing the counseling messages about the dexamethasone, so it was worth it.
I have to take the BCP's for 26 days, but they only come in packs of 21, so I have to get two months worth filled and will have lots of leftovers. What I am going to do with them I don't know. Maybe I should try to have unprotected intercourse in them and see if it works?
LP -I also have another month on a refill. I guess it's good that the pharmacist doesn't think I'm just trying out sex.
Thanks for laughing ladies! :Emoticons09780:
