Trick or Treat

Hubs and I decided to opt out of handing out candy for Halloween this year. All those cute little kids in costume and neighbours bugging us about when we will be having our own little trick-or-treaters, we just needed a break.

We turned our outside lights off, didn't set out any decorations, and most people just figured we weren't home and didn't bother coming to the door. Except for one obnoxious teenager who loudly pounded on our door and persisted at it for several minutes. I was tempted to answer and hold out my overflowing sharps container as my only offering. "Pick whichever size syringe you like, take 2, don't be shy kid". That would sure be a trick! Oh, IF has turned me into a real live witch.

  1. I bought two boxes of chocolate bars, and the doorbell only rang once!!! Ironic - you were hiding and they found you while I was looking up and down the empty street saying, "Free candy ... where are you?"

I think it was a wise move to turn off the lights and pretend not to be home given all that you've been through lately. Sometimes it's just best to do what is right for you! :)

I did the same...luckly we don't even get any kids but just in case some wonder into the street the message was clear...
I would love to see the face of that teenager when you take out the sharpies container :)

We also hid out at home and ignored the trick or treaters. No one tried to bug us though!

I'm always surprised at the number of teenagers who go out trick or treating! Where I grew up it was considered embarrassing to go out past the 8th grade.
I'm glad that you decided to take the night off. You deserve at least that much of a break.

We usually get lots of little monsters but we were sadly disappointed this year, we did however end up with lots of candy left over.....not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing ha ha!!
